As the lower mainlines emerge from hidden track under Summit, trains enter Buckhorn, KY. Buckhorn is home to the sprawling Valentine Coal Co. Mine #3. The tipple has a capacity of 40 coal hoppers on its four tracks. A slack loader, located on the opposite side of the main line near the depot, is serviced by trucks. Located at the east end of town is a powerhouse, company store and small church.
